The 2 Sunnah of Fajr are among the most emphasised Sunnahs. "The two Sunnah rakahs of Fajr are better than the world and everything in it." (Sahih Muslim 725)
Hanafi - Key Differences
Hand position
Right hand grips left wrist, placed below the navel.
Rafa al-Yadayn (raising hands)
Hands raised only at the opening Takbeer (thumbs to earlobes for men, to shoulders for women). Not raised before or after Ruku.
Ameen after Fatiha
Said silently (sirr) after Al-Fatiha in all prayers.
Basmalah
Basmalah recited silently before Al-Fatiha. Not said aloud.
Tashahhud finger
Index finger raised at "la" and lowered at "illallah". Remains stationary - not moved.
Witr
3 rakahs with a break (like Maghrib) or 3 continuous with one Tashahhud at the end. Qunut is wajib.
Niyyah (Intention) - Hanafi approach
نَوَيْتُ أَنْ أُصَلِّيَ...
Nawaytu an usalli...
I intend to pray. The full intention is formed in the heart specifying the prayer name, number of rakahs, and direction. Saying it aloud is permitted but not required.
Example niyyah for this prayer:
I intend to pray 2 rakahs of Fardh Fajr, facing the Qibla, for the sake of Allah.
